Private Tours for small groups in South Africa
This is what we really prefer to do! You let us know what you want - perhaps a combination of elements from some of the scheduled tours, perhaps all your own ideas - and we then design a specific private tour for you or your group.
We would need to know some or all of the following details:
* The approximate dates envisaged -or at least the time of the year
* The size of the group - or whether it’s just for one person
* The specific interests of the group
* An outline of the places that you wish to see
* An idea as to whether you’d prefer to FLY between destinations, or be happy with DRIVING / BEING
* The type of accommodation required - whether 5-star hotels or guesthouses or camping, for example driven...
Here's an example of a Private Tour that we've done in the past
Something we rather like is the following : a SEA-FARI. Why not combine a “Big Five” game-viewing safari with a trip down the stunning East Coast of South Africa? The East Coast has some of the most famous game reserves in the country - and the warm Mozambique and Agulhas currents ensure that the sea is ideal for swimming all year round.
An itinerary can be tailor-made to suit your time constraints - anything from 10 days to 3 weeks; and also to match accommodation requirements - 4 / 5 star hotels and lodges; middle-range hotels and guesthouses; National Parks chalets; or camping.
Some of the following destinations could feature:
NDUMO, TEMBE ELEPHANT, MKUZE and HLUHLUWE-MFOLOSI National Parks in Northern KwaZulu Natal The Big Five reserves! The special claim to fame of these reserves is the incredible conservation work over the years in saving the rhino from the verge of extinction. A visit to one / some / all is essential - all offer a range of accommodation from camping to luxury private lodges.
A number of private game reserves are also available in the area - most notably the stunning Conservation Corporation property, PHINDA.
Maputaland coastal resorts like KOSI BAY, SODWANA BAY, LAKE SIBHAYA, CAPE VIDAL and St. LUCIA - palm-fringed beaches, evergreen coastal forests, estuaries and lakes, hippos and crocodiles, turtles, abundant marine and estuarine bird life, fishing and diving / snorkelling paradise.
South Africa’s 3rd largest city - and largest port - DURBAN - and the holiday coast north and south of the city. A Mecca of sun-bronzed bodies, and a hot nightlife.
# The Eastern Cape Wild Coast resorts like PORT ST. JOHNS, COFFEE BAY, HOLE-IN-THE-WALL, WAVECREST AND KEI MOUTH - unsullied, unyuppified stretches of white sands and tropical dune forests, mangrove-lined rivers and lagoons, absolute isolation and serenity, and abundant seafood.
# The ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK, KARIEGA and RIVER BEND PRIVATE GAME RESERVES near Port Elizabeth - malaria-free game reserves that are home to the Eastern Cape or Addo Elephant, as well as giraffe, rhino, zebra, and several species of antelope - from the mighty eland to the elegant springbok.
# The GARDEN ROUTE, a narrow strip of coast between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains and the sea which contains South Africa’s - "Lake District"- a stunning area of estuaries, ancient yellowwood and stinkwood forests, sheer cliffs interspersed with small bays. Two National Parks - the Tsitsikamma and Wilderness - exist to conserve the magnificent coastal montane forests and coastline; and a number of idyllic holiday resorts, like Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, offer fine hotels and restaurant.
Possible inland excursions or diversions en route might include:
* The Anglo-Zulu and Anglo-Boer War battlefield sites of KwaZulu Natal
* The beautiful colonial city of Pietermaritzburg
* The mighty Drakensberg Mountains, and the variety of resorts offering hiking, trout-fishing et al
* Grahamstown, the 1820 Settler city of churches and schools
* Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, and home to the awesome Cango Caves
